Day 1 - Panel Discussion:
The General Divide - How to Get Multi-Generations to Work Effectively with One Another


Dr. Wayne Henry assumed duties as Director General on July 1, 2016. He comes to the PIOJ from the Scotiabank Group Jamaica where he spent five years as Vice President, Government Affairs. There he played an important role in strategically managing Scotiabank’s public sector relationships and public policy priorities, providing advice to the Bank, liaising with governments and multilateral institutions in Jamaica and other regional jurisdictions, and monitoring the policy environment for developments that would impact the banking and financial sector.

Prior to joining Scotiabank, Dr. Henry was Chief Technical Advisor to the Minister of Finance, the Honourable Audley Shaw, and Special Advisor to the then Minister of Agriculture, the Honourable Christopher Tufton. He previously worked as the World Bank Representative in Jamaica, and spent several years as a Lecturer in Economics at the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus). He served on several boards, including those of Air Jamaica Limited, the Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Limited, the Caribbean Development Bank, the CARICOM Development Fund, the Statistical Institute of Jamaica and the Student Loan Bureau. He is currently the Chairman of the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF), a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), the PetroCaribe Development Fund (PDF), as well as the Advisory Board for the Governor General’s Programme of Excellence. He is a Justice of the Peace for the parish of St. Andrew.

Dr. Henry holds a Ph.D in Agricultural and Development Economics from the Ohio State University, an MBA (Finance) from Howard University and an MA in Economics from the Ohio State University. He also holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Management from the University of the West Indies. He is married to Dr. Gail Webster, an Ophthalmologist, and has two sons, Matthew and Joshua, and a daughter, Gabrielle.
